CrunchBang Linux 8.10.02 on HP 2133

p>I was using Ubuntu 8.04 on my HP 2133 since some time. Playing around with several drivers and kernel versions leaded my hp 2133 netbook to some random freezes. So I decided to make a clean install of 8.10. It works very well out of the box – much better than 8.04. VIA provides some 2D and 3D graphic drivers for 8.10. There are still some problems with external monitors and beamer switching. For details see the HP 2133 page in ubuntu wiki. But that’s not the reason I am writing this post…
I search all the time for some smarter interfaces and desktops than the default Gnome in Ubuntu. Some days ago I found the #!CrunchBang Linux distribution. CrunchBang Linux is a Ubuntu minimal based distribution. It uses Openbox as window manager. The installation progress looks very simple. It is possible to try it from CD before installing it on the disk.
I will test this distribution in the next days on my HP 2133. At first i’ll check it out by using a live boot medium. There is no CD drive attached to my HP 2133 so I need to create an USB boot stick. I’ll give it a try…

ArchLinux mit openbox, conky und pypanel würds auch tun. Da brauch ich keinen ubuntu unterbau dafür.

CrunchBang Linux basiert auf einer “CLI”-Installation von Ubuntu. Es ist also wesentlich weniger Overhead drin, als in einem Standard-Ubuntu.
Ich muss gestehen, mit ArchLinux habe ich mich bisher gar nicht beschäftigt. Vielleicht wäre das auch mal einen Versuch wert…
Wie sieht es mit Kompatibilität zu der HP 2133 Hardware aus?

Hab nur kurz gesucht und ausser nem X.org Problem, das nach dem Update auf die neue version (aufgrund der geänderten xorg.conf) aufgetreten ist, keine größeren Einträge über Probleme gefunden.

Quisiera saber si puedo cambiar de sistema operativo, tengo la mini notebook con Linux pero me parece muy incomodo usar este sistema aparte que no se usarlo y a veces me desespera tanto que me dan ganas de tirarla… y q decepcion al saber ke no tiene CD-ROM
